SAVI - The Video Explorer
SAVI is a web and mobile video explorer interface that allows you to watch specially produced micro video clips of key points of interest as well as to see information about them.
This is the 'explore' mode - one of three ways of using SAVI. In the second mode, 'connect', you can send unique video SAVIcards from your mobile phone where your own video is automatically edited into a SAVI clip. These SAVIcards can be shared with friends and family or posted to Facebook. The third mode is 'create' - here you have a fully featured online flash editor at your disposal, where you can edit your own uploaded video together with SAVI's extensive library of aerial footage. You can see a short introduction video here.
SAVI is completely unique in that it combines mapping, messaging and video editing - all in one simple, engaging interface. All accessible from your smartphone*, your laptop, or your pc. You can plan where you want to go, send personalised video messages or post Facebook logs when you get there - or just be a virtual traveller from the comfort of your desktop.
SAVI has opened up a whole world of opportunity by opening up its library of high quality aerial footage for use in SAVIcards and edits. This footage is extensive - around 15 hours and 1,400 clips covering the UK alone - and is all derived from high quality, high definition masters.
SAVI is currently available (in Alpha test) for the UK and South Africa, together covering nearly 2,000 points of interest. Other countries are being added and will become available during 2010. SAVI was recently the winner of an OSF grant to develop it further, and is being supported by Nokia in creating dedicated applications.
SAVI is available to view by invitation only at the moment (as it is pre-release). If you want to know more or to try SAVI yourself, please contact us.
* not all SAVI functions are available on all smartphones
