Skyworks, the UK-based independent producer and HD aerial filming specialist, has today announced the appointment of Colin Mills as a Director of the company, with special responsibility for driving new media and technology application development.

This move consolidates a period of development where Colin was acting as a consultant for Skyworks. This new appointment follows a deal with Illumina Digital to co-develop the Skyworks mapping application, SAVI, which was co-funded by the Technology Strategy Board.

Colin Mills, Director of Skyworks, comments: “I have worked with many companies expanding into emerging areas of new media and - with the launch of SAVI - Skyworks is in the ideal position to be at the forefront of this. I look forward to extending my role in what is a highly professional and dedicated team.”

Skyworks is developing stronger commercial ties with its new offerings – SAVI is an example of this and is attracting much interest from the mobile telephony sector amongst others. Colin Mills’ background in the world of advertising and branding, and his expertise in client brand strategy and communications systems will make him instrumental in Skyworks’ development in this area going forward.

Before joining Skyworks, Colin Mills was Chief Executive Officer of ADV – Eastern Europe’s biggest advertising and marketing group. Previously he was Managing Director of the BBDO Worldwide advertising agencies in The Netherlands, Russia and Portugal. He has authored many articles on branding and international advertising and was named one of M&M Marketing’s “40 under 40”.
