Skyworks Soars over South Africa

Skyworks, the UK-based independent producer and HD aerial filming specialist, has today announced the expansion of its already extensive archive of footage, and continued investment in their filming of the world, with a major shoot covering the whole of South Africa from the air.

This follows the recent announcement that Skyworks has undertaken the enormous task of filming parts of the country from the air for one of the three new series of Walks (BBC), with Julia Bradbury. With growing interest in the country ahead of the 2010 World Cup, Skyworks will be able to provide stunning footage of landmarks including the Drakensberg Mountains, the Kruger National Park, Robben Island and Table Mountain, as well as the Stadia and host cities of the World Cup – each shot using Skyworks’ unique expertise in HD aerial filming.

Skyworks’ HD aerial archive is one of the largest in the world, with almost 100,000 of the highest quality shots taken from over 800 hours of original footage. Dramatic film of some of world’s stunning landscapes and vistas is available for producers to utilise and incorporate into production.

Damian Keogh, Managing Director of Skyworks says: “We at Skyworks are particularly proud of our vast archive containing footage from countries including Britain, Iceland, America and most of Western Europe. In the run up to the World Cup we predict a flurry of interest in South Africa’s beautiful landscape and rich culture. As we are committed to expanding our archive with footage of the entire world, South Africa seemed an obvious choice at this time.”

South Africa Walks (working title) is a Skyworks production for BBC FOUR. It is Executive Produced by Eric Harwood and Series Produced by Owen Rodd for Skyworks.
